Animaro is a design studio founded by Matt Gilbert based in East London. Matt has a background in architecture and enjoys drawing on architectural and structural principles in his furniture design. He found a passion for furniture while completing an MA at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art which was split between furniture and architectural scale design. He draws inspiration not from other furniture, but from inventors, mathematicians and artists such as the kinetic artist Arthur Ganson and the architect Emilio Pérez Piñero. He is particularly interested in expressing forces and material properties in a very clear and playful way
