President Mansion in China. Re-interpreting Oriental Design between light and gardens

The Wuhan Greenland Center is a 636-metre high skyscraper designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. Some whole spaces, including the President Mansion, have been completed by the CCD / Cheng Chung Design where the design starts from the oriental tradition

Inside the Wuhan Greenland Center the Arrival Hall on the first floor, the celestial hall on the 66th floor, the executive lounge and the multi-functional hall as well as the reception area on the 11th floor and the interior design of the President's Mansion of the 76-85 floors were completed by the CCD/Cheng Chung Design (HK). This project is located in the central area of Winjiang's business district in Binjiang, and will become a multi-storey urban complex that integrates five-star hotels, high-end shopping malls, office buildings and high-end apartments

Several multiple functional areas such as the reception entrance, the lounge area, the chat area, the artistic space and the passageways of the apartments have been designed in the style of the classic eastern courtyard and together they seem to recreate a distant living environment between the high mountains and the running water. The designers have set up bamboo paths and works of art that guide guests to slowly enter and become small landscape installations

In the resting area, the seats are arranged in a scattered manner and some are placed in front of the window, facing the Yangtze River. The sunlight projected onto the earth-colored carpet through the glass curtain wall is like the sunlight shining through leaves and branches of trees, forming random and scattered shadows

The Interior project of the Global President Mansion wanted to represent a space surrounded by mountains and water. The use of light and openness is also a key factor in this project. In the eyes of the designers, changes in space and atmosphere are the most attractive parts of traditional Chinese space. Therefore, the spatial sequence created alternates between natural light and artificial light
