Concept Store for a Boutique in Montreal. Sustainability and evolution are the key words

ADHOC Architectes and designer MESSIER unveil the new Montreal Biodôme souvenir boutique. The interior design expresses the mission of "Espace pour la vie" by proposing furniture capable of adapting to the ever-changing needs of the customer

The request of the "Espace pour la vie" brand was to modify the 195 sqm boutique to renew the user experience, increase traffic and boost sales. The challenge was therefore to create a boutique that would culminate in an impressive tour of the museum. Opened to the public in 1992, the Biodôme is located in the old Vélodrome used for the 1976 Summer Olympic Games

The building is characterized by its imposing concrete structure and large windows. The Biodôme boutique is located at the end of the museum promenade, so it has to express coherence with the museum installations, but also distinguish itself. The role of the boutique is therefore to complete the visitors' journey through the museum, stimulating their imagination

The project proposes an adaptable boutique, equipped to anticipate change and fluctuating needs. Like a living organism capable of adapting and responding to its environment, this boutique will evolve with the passage of the seasons and years to respond to the variable number of visitors and changing customer preferences. This approach pays tribute to the most important principles of Espace pour la vie: the adaptive evolution between wildlife and its ever-changing natural environment

The concept originates from a refined geometric and formal research. The study of the living world prompted the design team to focus on the world at the cellular level, in particular the recurrence of certain structures such as the creation of cells in a hive and the erosion of rock formations. The Biôdome, being the "House of Life", was designed to create a formal parallel between the natural cell and the module
