Expansion for two residences in Catalonia. Contrast between white material and wood

The unparelld'arquitectes studio has expanded this residence to create three houses with large and bright spaces thanks to the three levels of terraces. The materials of the horizontal surfaces, floor and ceiling, characterize the space in contrast with the white material of the walls

The building was transformed to create two separate houses, one for each floor, then a volume was added that provided the opportunity to expand the domestic space, equipping it with outdoor living areas

The wall of the building facing Can Central corresponds to the original house with a large patio. The original residence has been almost completely " emptied" of its walls because of a strong deterioration due to the neglect. In the space of the free patio between the two houses three levels of terraces have been created. They open on one side to the southwest and on the other they separate from the facade to create an access courtyard

This terrace-patio composition is the feature that provides natural lighting and ventilation. A foldable closure allows the space to be transformed into a closed gallery depending on the time of year. These outdoor outbuildings are multipurpose areas that represent the center of gravity of each home. The upper terrace is shared and has two independent entrances
